Pay bands, redundancy proposals and calibration outcomes are the most sensitive documents a People team produces, and they cannot do their job without being shared. A cropped screenshot of one page is enough to start a rumour, undermine a consultation or hand a story to the press.
Because every manager received an identical copy, an investigation becomes a round of uncomfortable interviews. Nobody is found, everybody is suspected, and trust in the People team takes the damage.
What ExactMark changes
Each copy is quietly linked to the person who received it.
Imprint produces one recipient-linked copy per manager. The document looks the same to everyone; the spatial signal in each copy is different. When a screenshot surfaces, an authorised team member uploads it to Evidence Lab and receives the most likely source, a confidence score and ranked candidates, or an inconclusive result.
ExactMark does not stop a screenshot being taken. It changes what happens next: a conversation with one person, backed by a PDF evidence report, instead of an inquiry into forty.

Questions
Straight answers for People teams
Does ExactMark stop managers taking screenshots?
No. Nothing reliably prevents a screenshot or a photo of a screen. ExactMark tells you which recipient copy or session a leaked image most likely came from, and the knowledge that copies are linked to individuals is what deters the leak in the first place.
Will managers see the mark on their copy?
By default, no. The spatial signal is low-opacity and covert. If you would rather people see that a document is marked, a visible mode and a combined mode are available.
Can we keep employee identities out of ExactMark?
Yes. Recipients and viewers can be pseudonymised, and the mapping between a pseudonym and a real person can stay inside your own systems. ExactMark only needs to know that Copy 02 exists, not who Copy 02 is.
What happens if the result is inconclusive?
Evidence Lab says so rather than guessing. You still keep the case, the original asset and your notes. Recovery+ is an optional human-led investigation service for evidence the detector could not resolve on its own.
Which file types work, and where is our data held?
Imprint accepts PNG, JPG, WEBP and PDF, and PDFs keep their original content and text. Evidence Lab accepts leaked screenshots, images and PDFs. Everything is hosted in Dublin in the EU, with application-level AES-256-GCM encryption of forensic data.
